A Safe Place - Seacoast Task Force on Family Violence - Portsmouth – $5000 - After Domestic Violence: A Mother and Child Recovery Program
Addressing the effects on children who have witnessed domestic violence at home, using the curriculum "Children Exposed to Woman Abuse" in concurrently running groups for mothers and children.

Arts in Reach – Dover – $2000 – Support for Director Transition
Supporting the transition from the Founding Director to the New Executive Director during the first year of AIR’s new Executive Director.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Manchester - Manchester – $5000 – Girl’s Mentoring Program
Supporting the “Girl Empowerment One-to-One Mentoring Program” in order to increase the number of girls who receive mentoring from 25 girls to 40 girls within the year, and continue to grow the mentoring program.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Nashua – Nashua – $5000 – Girl’s Mentoring Program
Supporting the Girl's After School Mentoring Program, Girl's Inc. and 21st Century Extended Day Program, providing mentors to girls in the Nashua's 21st Century Extended Day Program, while continuing to provide mentoring to girls in Girl's Inc., Nashua.

Boys & Girls Club of the Lakes Region – Laconia – $5000 – Teen Parent Education Program
Supporting “Stepping Stones to Parenthood” a program which addresses the needs of teen parents with education about prenatal care to age 6 for proper care and nurturing of their children.

Bridge House – Plymouth - $5,000Case Management
Bridge House is an emergency and transitional homeless shelter located in Plymouth. Its mission is to enhance residents’ ability to respond to life’s challenges and secure independence by providing them with necessary support and skills to return to the community. This grant is given to support the Parenting for Life Program, a program in which parenting staff coordinate with case managers to assess and develop individualized plans for each family that enters Bridge House. Circle Program – Plymouth – $5000 – Mentoring Training Program
Supporting “Circle Program Mentoring” to recruit and train volunteer adult women mentors and provide them with ongoing support and resources throughout the year.

Dress For Success New Hampshire - Concord - $2000 – Operating Support
Providing operating support for the new Executive Director increasing to a 30 hour per week, salaried position.

Girls on the Run – Exeter – $1500 – Girls on the Run Increased Awareness and Scholarship Campaign
Supporting the “Girls on the Run Increased Awareness and Scholarship Campaign” for the Portsmouth Area to promote and expand this program to elementary aged girls in the Portsmouth school district in 2008-2009.

Lifewise Community Projects – Hampton - $5000Program Coordinator for Wildcat Youth Mentors
Lifewise is a small, private nonprofit located in Eastern Rockingham County. Its mission is to advocate for citizen involvement in civic affairs and community service. The 2008 grant supports the hiring of a part-time program coordinator for Wildcat Youth Mentors program, a dropout prevention program that seeks to build self-esteem in young women, leading to high school graduation. The Wildcat mentors (female UNH students), are partnered with middle school girls who have been identified with risk factors such as frequent absenteeism, academic and behavioral issues. With the coordinator position filled, the program will be able to expand and develop steps to meet the demand for more mentors. Website: http://www.lifewise-nh.org/

Marguerite's Place, Inc. - Nashua - $4000 – Transitional Housing Program
Supporting the “Transitional Housing Program,” which provides on-going services and daycare programs for homeless women and their children.

Nashua Pastoral Care Center – Nashua – $5000 - Transitional Housing Program
Supporting the “Transitional Housing Program,” developed to assist young homeless mothers making permanent life changes that will result in self-sufficiency.

NeighborWorks Greater Manchester – Manchester - $2,000Home Ownership for Women
Neighborworks of Greater Manchester is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the improvement of the lives of low income individuals and families living in the Greater Manchester Region. Its mission is to enhance peoples’ lives by providing access to quality housing services, revitalizing neighborhoods, and supporting opportunities for personal empowerment. The 2008 grant supports the counseling services associated with the Individual Development Account Program, a matched savings program that helps women save for the purchase of their own home. New Generation, Inc. – Greenland -$5,000Parenting Education and Case Management
The mission of New Generation, Inc. is to provide support to homeless women, in crisis during pregnancy, and to mothers and children, in order to foster a new generation of healthy, self-sufficient, fully functioning and happy families. New Generation, Inc. teaches women how to become self-sufficient, meet daily responsibilities, work a minimum of 20 hours per week, find their own housing and learn how to live within their means. The 2008 grant helps support the salary of the Executive Director, who oversees case management for each resident, parenting education, life skills training, transportation to partnering agencies for housing, healthcare and social service appointments. New Hampshire Commission on the Status of Women – Concord - $5000A Legal Handbook for Women in New Hampshire
The New Hampshire Commission on the Status of Women advocates on behalf of New Hampshire women by identifying and seeking to remedy social, political and economic barriers that prevent the full realization of women’s basic rights. The 2008 grant supports the printing of the Fourth Revision of A Legal Handbook for Women in New Hampshire. The handbook provides up-to-date and easy to understand information about state and federal laws on domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, sexual harassment, divorce, child support, child custody, victims’ rights and other relevant subjects to women throughout New Hampshire. New Hampshire Community Technical College – Stratham -$5,000Project RISE
The 2008 grant to New Hampshire Community Technical College in Claremont and Keene will help fund Project RISE (Redirection of Individuals through Supportive Education). Project Rise has been designed to provide personal and academic support services and financial assistance that goes beyond traditional financial aid programs. The project funds education-related expenses such as tuition and fees, books and some supplies, child care and travel to assist single parents and displaced homemakers who are not funded by the federal Perkins grant. New Hampshire Task Force on Women and Recovery - Manchester – $2000 – Educational Dissemination
Supporting “Shared Straight/Targeted Prevention for Girls Dissemination” to support educational dissemination to the public at large, parents, at-risk high school and middle school girls, college youth, juvenile and adult criminal justice, mental health and substance abuse workers, policy makers and others.

New Outlook Teen Center – Exeter -$5,000 Young Women’s Adventure Group
The mission of New Outlook is to provide a community that engages youth in opportunities that nurture belonging, independence, resilience, and social responsibility. This grant will support the Young Women’s Adventure Group, a project that strives to educate and empower female youth through activities that challenge and expand their knowledge and experiences. Through participation in programs and activities that are not always readily available to young women (examples include: changing a tire, money management, ice hockey, etc.), female participants will be empowered to realize and believe in their own potential. Riverbend Parent-Child Center – Concord -$4,000Home Mentoring Program
The Riverbend Parent-Child Center strives to support, strengthen families; enhance parent-child relationships; promote the healthy development of children by increasing parenting skills, developing a support network for parents and offering a peer group for children. The 2008 grant supports the Home Mentoring Program, which allows a group of volunteer mentors to role model, support and encourage women/girls (mothers and their children). Two mentors, one for the parent and one for the child(ren), work in the homes of these families to reinforce PCC goals.

Rubia, Inc. - Warner – $5000 – Sewing/Business Training for Refugee Women
Supporting the program, “Sewing Confidence among Refugee Women” to establish a sewing center where recently resettled African refugee women will be trained in small business enterprise.

Sexual Assault Support Services – Portsmouth – $4000 – Sexual Violence Education and Awareness Program
Supporting the “Sexual Violence Education and Awareness Program,” a comprehensive program that provides sexual violence education to students in grades K-12.

The Family Center of Greater Peterborough - Peterborough – $5000 – Support Groups for Parents and Their Babies
Supporting the program “For Parents and Their Babies, For Parents Age 25 and Under, For Parents Age 26 and Over” offering support groups for parents and their babies, through collaboration with other local service providers, over an extended period through early childhood.

The New Hampshire Women's Policy Institute - Concord – $5000 – Understanding Barriers to Care for Near-Elderly Women
Supporting “Understanding Barriers to Care for Near-Elderly Women in NH” providing new information on the barriers faced by near-elderly (ages 55-64) women in accessing and paying for health care, and the impact that has on economic security for this population.

Voices Against Violence - Plymouth – $4739 – Psycho-Educational Support Groups for Abused Women
Supporting the program, “Pattern Changing” a program providing psycho-educational support groups for abused women.
